The Vital Remains show [22 Dec 2005|04:22pm]
[ mood | Tired ]

Again, this is a late post regarding another show. This past Saturday I went to go see Vital Remains, Incantation, Cannae, Porphyria, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, Burn My Remains, and Skulltoboggan. I guess there was another band that was added as the first band that played, but it doesn't matter because we missed them anyway. We actually missed like half of the show. I didn't care that I missed some of the bands because they were pretty lame. I had heard Skulltoboggan and they suck. Burn My Remains is your typical Metalcore/melodic Death Metal band, but I can't say I like them. Personally, I fucking HATE that Metalcore bands have been incorporating melodic Death Metal into their sound. It destroys the true purpose and meaning of melodic Death Metal. Rumpelstiltskin Grinder is pretty fucking awesome and we missed them. I was so pissed. I guess I just have to wait until they come around again. We came into the Palladium right after Porphyria kicked off their set....

PORPHYRIA: A fucking sick Death Metal band. They have some Grindcore elements in their music, but not too much. These guys put on a good show. They are actually not too far from my area. When my band starts doing a lot of shows I would like to share the stage with these guys. Check them out: www.myspace.com/porphyria

CANNAE: A Hardcore band, but they are actually kind of decent. They had a good amount of energy. I would think higher of them if they weren't Hardcore. The good thing is, is that they're not your typical fashioncore Hardcore band.

INCANTATION: These guys, to me, were just decent. I am very familiar with their material, but at this show they played a lot of slower stuff. I wish that they played faster stuff instead. They really didn't have a lot of energy, but they were still cool.

VITAL REMAINS: Fucking awesome. They kicked off their set with Dechristianize. Such a great song. They played a lot of material off of Dechristianize. They did play a song off of Dawn of the Apocalypse which was sick. They also did a song off of Forever Underground. I wish they played more material off of Dawn of the Apocalypse, Into Cold Darkness, or even Forever Underground. They didn't play any demo stuff like off of Reduced to Ashes and they didn't even play anything off of Let Us Pray. They were still fucking awesome because Dechristianize is a brutal CD.

After the show I ended up meeting the vocalist/guitarist from Incantation, the drummer of Incantation, and the new vocalist for Vital Remains. I also met Tony (the rhythm guitarist for Vital Remains) as well, but that was before VR's set.

We had a long talk with the new vocalist for VR and it was actually very interesting. This guy is really cool and he is a good vocalist.... I hope he's a permanent fixture for Vital Remains. They will actually be working on releasing a new album in 2006 and he hopes to be on it. He also said that this album will be faster and more brutal that Dechristianize.... this automatically means that I will love it. Glen Benton will actually be doing a show with Vital Remains on the 27th in Rhode Island. I am going to try to go, even though I am not getting my hopes up.

The Children of Bodom show [21 Dec 2005|05:24pm]
[ mood | Fine ]

On December 10th I went to go see Children of Bodom, Trivium, and Amon Amarth. It has been over a week since this show has happened, but I decided to tell about it anyway.

AMON AMARTH: Awesome set, but it was short. The songs they played included The Pursuit of Vikings, The Fate of Norns, Releasing Surtur's Fire, Death in Fire and For the Stabwounds in Our Backs. I might have forgotten one, I cannot remember. These guys headbang like a motherfucker. I hope to see them again shortly and hopefully with a longer set. I had met Johan after their set and he had told me about a new Amon Amarth album to be released in 2006. If this CD contains the technicality of Fate of Norns and the speed and brutality of The Crusher, I will absolutely love that album.

TRIVIUM: First off, I don't really like these guys. I believe that's enough said. Their tech sucked because there was feedback every 10 seconds. The only cool thing is that they played Dimebag's guitars and covered "Walk" and another Pantera song.

CHILDREN OF BODOM: These guys were excellent. They have energy which is always a plus, I hate when guys stand there the whole time and do nothing. Also, their light show was great.... not too much, and not over done. They played some newer material which I wasn't too happy about. But they did play some killer songs off of Hatebreeder and Follow the Reaper. Another thing I wasn't happy about is that they didn't play one goddamn song off of Something Wild! Oh well, maybe things will be different when they tour again.

After the show we went outside to wait by the tour buses for Bodom. After a long wait in the cold, myself and RJ got to meet Henkka and Alexi. They were cool as hell. Henkka really thought me and RJ were awesome dudes. I still think that's awesome. We talked to him for a good while. He actually didn't mind having a long conversation with us. He then took pics of me and RJ for a page that he is designing for the fans. I wait to see these pics on the web. All in all, it was a killer show!

The Suffocation and Vader show [10 Nov 2005|01:22pm]
[ mood | Fine ]

Its has been a few days since the show but I figured I'd do a post on it. It was a great show, but I was pissed about the fact that Cryptopsy didn't play. Apparently their van had broken down and they couldn't make it. That just means that I have to see them whenever they get their asses over here again.

DESPISED ICON: Another band trying to mix Hardcore and Death Metal. It doesn't work. The only band who is "Deathcore" who is worth listening to is All Shall Perish. Anyway, the only thing good about these guys is that their drummer was fucking insane. For their whole set all he did was beat the absolute shit out of his drums. It still doesn't redeem them though.

ABORTED: Fucking sick. I've been waiting to see them for a while. They didn't disappoint me one bit. They played a lot of good songs. Good stuff. Hopefully they'll come back soon.

DECAPITATED: Holy shit. These guys fucking blew me away. I have loved Decapitated for years but never had I seen them live. These guys were so brutal. Their new vocalist, Covan, was impressive as well. Their whole set was good, not one boring moment. I look forward to seeing them again.

VADER: Again, like Decapitated, there was no boring moments. These guys were very impressive live. Too bad they didn't have a longer set. I was happy because they played a few of my favorite songs by them. When they come around again, I will not miss it.

SUFFOCATION: This was my second time seeing them. They just seem to get better each time you see them. All out brutality. They played some of my favorite songs as well. Along with a lot of the bands I saw that night, I hope they come back around again soon.

Such a good show.

The Blackest of the Black show [19 Oct 2005|01:48pm]
[ mood | Shitty ]

The show last night was fucking great. We showed up on time for once.... or so we thought. The website for Lupo's said doors were at 6:30 and the show was at 7:30. Apparently doors were at 6 and the show started at 6:15. We missed all of The Agony Scene's set and we caught Mortiis' last couple songs. I don't like Mortiis anyway, but I wish we got to see TAS.

Himsa was fucking great. I wish they had a longer set. They played two new songs like they did when we saw them in New York. Their new CD was supposed to be out this month, but it has been bumped back to February 7th. I'm pissed I have to wait so long for it.

Behemoth was fucking incredible, I want to go and see them again. Like with Himsa, I wish these guys had a longer set. They're so fucking brutal. When I was standing there and headbanging and raising my horns up, Nergal pointed at me a few times.... that made me so fucking pumped. They had a good set list. They played stuff off of Demigod (they didn't play Slaves Shall Serve, dammit), Zos Kia Cultus, Thelema 6, and Satanica. They also played a song that I don't remember them playing when I saw them in Worcester in February. They played FROM THE PAGAN VASTLANDS!! Such a good fucking song.

Chimaira put on a good show. I really don't care for them, but I cannot deny that they have a good stage show. They had twins doing seductive dances on the sides of the stage. They were barely wearing any clothes.... and of course Chris was the first one to notice them, go fucking figure.

For what I caught of Danzig, it was good. Danzig is such a big mother fucker....

During Danzig's set, Chris, Tony and myself left to go to the car and get my band's CDs to go give to the bands. I ran into Orion, Seth and Inferno from Behemoth and talked to them for a little while. They're really cool guys. They have bad English though, but it's alright because they're Polish. I gave those guys a copy of our CD, hopefully they'll like it. I then saw Kevin Talley from Chimaira and I gave him a copy of the CD as well. Kevin's a cool guy, this was my second time hanging out with him. After that I found Johnny from Himsa and started to talk to him. Surprisingly he remembered me. He got a CD too. Then before we left I found Brent from The Agony Scene and he remembered me as well. It's always cool being remembered by band members. I talked to him for a few and then we left. Chris, Tony and myself were all pissed because we told R.J to meet up with us outside at 11. He didn't come outside until 12:20. We wanted to all get home because it was a two and half hour drive back and I had school and everyone else had work. We ended up getting home around 3 AM and I only got a few hours of sleep. I feel like a pile of shit right now. I want to sleep.

To close out this entry, I shall state all of the merch I bought. It was all Behemoth merch. I wanted the fucking hoodie they were selling but I wasn't about to pay $50 for it. Maybe some other time. But anyway, I bought a Behemoth tour shirt, the Slaves Shall Serve EP, two Behemoth patches, and a Behemoth girls shirt for Pam. I dropped $65 on all of that shit. Jesus Christ.

Speaking of Pam.... I want to talk to her so bad. As I stated earlier, I feel like shit right now.... all I want for right now is just to talk to her.

Hopefully this Friday, Blessings of Ruin will have their first full band practice. It probably won't happen because everyone's work schedules fucking suck. I've been having some possible plans running through my head regarding the band.... we'll have to see what happens if I decide to go through with my little "plan".

[ mood | Tired ]

JUNE: Manowar, Rhapsody and Holy Hell
Manowar was awesome, Rhapsody was decent and Holy Hell was great.

JULY: God Forbid, Himsa, The Agony Scene, Full Blows Chaos and The Esoteric God Forbid, Himsa and The Agony Scene were good and the other two bands fucking sucked.

JULY: Ozzfest
The Black Dahlia Murder, Arch Enemy, The Haunted, Soilwork, Mastodon, Shadows Fall, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath were fucking awesome. The other bands can bite a dick.

AUGUST: HammerFall, Edguy and Into Eternity
All of those band were fucking awesome.

AUGUST: Chimaira, Six Feet Under, All That Remains and 3 Inches of Blood
We got there late so I missed 3IOB and ATR, Six Feet Under was good when they played their old songs and Chimaira was decent.

AUGUST: Throwdown, Remembering Never, The Agony Scene, Sinai Beach and Overthrown.
I only went to that show to see TAS because they are my friends.... the other bands sucked. I haven't been to any shows yet this month, but this weekend I am going to see The Black Dahlia Murder, Between the Buried and Me, Cephalic Carnage and Into the Moat. There are still many concerts that I will go to after that.

The Soilwork Show [03 May 2005|01:09pm]
[ mood | Depressed ]

It has been a couple days since the show happened, but I decided to update about it today. Saturday was a good day. A very good day. Friday night I had Chris and Joe spend the night, so we woke up around 11 on Saturday morning and me and Joe got ready for the day. Then we went to Palmer's to get some snacks and cigarettes. Sadlowski was working and I asked him if he wanted to come with us to the show but he had to decline because of previous engagements. We went to Chris's after that and we ate lunch and then Chris got ready to go. I called Tony to see if he was still going but he declined. We left and went to Wood Bros to see if Chris could trade in his two guitar pedals to get a new one. That plan didn't work, we were all pissed off. We left Wood Bros and we went to Falcetti's but they wouldn't buy the pedals either. We found a new kind of pedal that is called Death Metal and it was pretty good for its price. But after that we left Pittsfield and we were on our way to my grandparent's. We got there and we just hung out for a while because Chris drove there rather fast so we had time to kill. I got money and then we left for Connecticut. We got there around 6:45 and we had even more time to kill. We got our tickets but then we found out you couldn't bring cameras in. I was pissed because I wanted to try to meet some band members and have pictures taken with them. We got in and I looked at the merch stands and they had some good shit. We went into the actual theatre and Chris got his seat and me and Joe went up front. The show started not too long after that.

MNEMIC: They were decent but I wouldn't go out and buy their CDs.

HYPOCRISY: These guys were so much better than the last time I saw them. They played a good mix of older material as well as newer material. All of their material is good, regardless. Their music may not be the most complex but their musicianship is awesome. Peter Tagtgren's vocals live are incredible, he inspires me as a vocalist.

DARK TRANQUILLITY: They had a really good set. They didn't play any really old material, they went as far back as "The Gallery" album, but their set was good nonetheless. They played very well, but they weren't the best band I've seen live.

SOILWORK: I thought that they weren't going to be that good. I liked their older material and I wasn't too big on their newer shit. My thoughts of them have changed greatly. They were fucking awesome. Some people may give me shit for liking Soilwork as a whole but I don't give a fuck, they were fucking great. They had a long set which was good. They too played a lot of their older material as well as new material. They had a lot of energy too. Their stage show was also good, they didn't over-do it at all. I have so much more respect for them now and I am also a bigger fan. Speed's vocal approach now influences me a bit. I bought their new album there which is entitled "Stabbing the Drama" and I must say it is a very good album. I now await seeing them at Ozzfest this year. The only disappointment about seeing them at Ozzfest is that they will have a shorter set.

The Motorhead Show [15 Mar 2005|12:56pm]
[ mood | Depressed and Relaxed ]

Yes, the show was Friday but I haven't updated due to the fact that I have been sick and I haven't felt like doing much of anything. Here is the basic run-down of what happened on Friday:

Sadlowski met me at PHS and Lance picked us up and we went to Big Y so Lance could get a few things. Then we went to go get Tony and R.J. We had to give Tony's girlfriend a ride to her house and then we had to stop again so R.J could get more money. The we were on our way. On the way down to Worcester we stopped at my grandparent's house. I got some more money and we got some drinks and then we left. We had to stop again on the way to the Palladium because the windshield wipers on Lance's car weren't working so we attempted to fix them. It worked for the time being, though I am sure they are not permanently fixed. We actually arrived at the Palladium on time. As soon as we walked in I bought a Motorhead tour shirt, Tony bought a Motorhead longsleeve shirt, R.J bought two Motorhead shirts and Lance bought a Motorhead 30th Anniversary book. The show started shortly after....

BRAND NEW SIN: These guys were fucking awesome. I have already seen them once in concert but I must say they were better this time around. They played some of their older songs off of their self-titled album which was good shit, but they also played some songs off of their new EP, "Black and Blue" and those songs were awesome as well. I wish that their set was longer.

ZEKE: These guys were a Punk band. I am not a fan of Punk so I can't say I liked them. In fact, they were pretty lame.

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY: These guys were very good. I never really followed these guys and I never heard much from them so I didn't know what to expect. By the end of their set, I was very impressed.

MOTORHEAD: They were obviously the best band performing this night. These living legends rocked hard. They had a killer set list, every song they played was fucking awesome. I moshed to several songs, in fact I started the pit for one song. I would have loved to moshed to more songs but my smoker's lungs kicked in and there were points I was having trouble breathing. It was nice seeing an actual mosh pit, not that hardcore pit faggotry I see often. Next time these guys come around this area, I will not miss it.

After Motorhead finished performing, we waited around for a few minutes for most of the people to clear out. I was looking around on the floor to see if there were any picks on the ground that Phil or Lemmy had thrown out into the crowd. I actually found one, it was one of Phil's guitar picks. Sadlowski offered me some money for it but I refused his offer. After that we all went back out to Lance's car. Sadlowski and myself got our sweatshirts and jackets and then we went to go stand where the equipment was being brought out, just incase we might meet someone. Lance, R.J and Tony met up with us there about ten minutes later. After about an hour of waiting, Phil came out. I talked to him for a minute, I got a picture taken with him and I had him sign an ace of spades card for me. A few minutes later he took me, my friends and about eight other people into the Palladium. He took us up a flight of stairs and took us to their dressing room. When we walked in, there he was.... the legend, Lemmy Kilmister. I got to talk to him for a minute, I also got a picture taken with him and he also signed my ace of spades. My friends as well as myself still can't believe we fucking met him. We didn't get to meet Mikkey, but we were happy enough that we met two out of the three members.

I am sure that the night of March 11 2005 is a night that Nick Truchan, Matt Sadlowski, Lance Madewell, R.J Masefield and Tony Parslow will never forget.

The Suffocation and Behemoth Show [19 Feb 2005|03:23pm]
[ mood | Tired ]

Yesterday was an awesome fucking day. After school Jake, Gurdek and myself walked over to Gurdek's house. We stayed there for a little while and then Chris came to pick us up. We then went to Chris's and did random shit. Jake was using my mic, I was playing bass and Chris was playing the keyboard and we just made shit up as it went along. It wasn't necessarily good music, it was more humorous than anything else. After a while Jason showed up. The original people who were going to go to the show were Chris, Shannon and myself.... but the people who ended up going were Jake, Gurdek, Chris, Jason and myself. We left Chris's house and we stopped at Coconuts so Jason could get his ticket. I ran into Price Chopper so I could get a disposable camera for the evening. On the way down to Worcester we stopped at my grandparent's house and we just talked to them for a while. We got a shitload of food and then we continued on our way. We arrived in Worcester about ten minutes before seven. We waited and then they started letting people in. I went to the will call window to get my tickets that were supposed to be waiting there for me. But when I told the people my name, the tickets weren't fucking there. So myself along with Jake and Chris had to pay to get in. I'm still pissed about that.... I was supposed to have three fucking tickets waiting for me. After all of us purchased our tickets we went inside and waited for the show to start. The first band was Devilinside. I didn't care for them at all. The next band was Misery Index and they were pretty fucking good. Cattle Decapitation was after Misery Index. Cattle Decapitation was fucking crazy. This was my second time seeing these guys but I'm not complaining. These guys are a lot better live than on CD. Their vocalist goes crazy when he is on stage. Everyone else in the band goes crazy as well, but the vocalist stands out. It seems like he is possessed when he is up there. They put on a good fucking show. During the break I went up to the merch stands and I met the vocalist/bassist from Misery Index. I also purchased a Behemoth shirt. After I bought that I went back to being right in front of the stage. Then I waited for Behemoth to come out. When they came out on stage I lost it. I had such an adrenaline rush. These guys, like Cattle Decapitation, are better live than on CD. They did not play any of their Black Metal material at all. I have said before that I was not a big fan of Behemoth's newer material. But after seeing them live I have a whole new respect for them. They're insane. After Behemoth played it was Suffocation's time to take the stage. All hell broke loose when they played.... that's all that needs to be said. During Suffocation's set, I was standing to the left of the stage and I saw someone walk by me wearing white make-up with black designs of their face. I knew it was a member of Behemoth but I was unsure of which member it was. I followed him for a second and I saw it was Nergal. I started talking to him and he was a cool guy. Gurdek talked to him as well.... except he talked to him in Polish. I had Neral sign a piece of paper, Gurdek had him sign his ticket stub and Jake had him sign his pack of cigarettes. We watched the rest of Suffocation and then I went a bought a Suffocation shirt. After that we went out to the car except Jason wasn't with us. So we waited for him but we couldn't find him. Jake went to go look for him once but didn't find him. The second time he went to go look, he found him. We all got in the car and headed back home. The ride back home wasn't interesting.... everyone was too tired to say or do anything. All in all it was a fucking badass night.

The Black Dahlia Murder show [09 Aug 2004|01:11am]
[ mood | tired ]

Ah, the show was fucking awesome. I just returned home about ten minutes ago. Tom and I arrived a little later as we expected. We had arrived about two songs into Cattle Decapitation's set. Those guys fucking rock live. After them was Goatwhore who were much better live than on CD. Then of course after them was the almighty Black Dahlia Murder. From the moment they went on stage to when they got off the stage was non-stop madness. They pretty much played every song off of the 'Unhallowed' CD. The only song they did not play off the CD was "Hymn for the Wretched". I was disappointed they didn't play it, but they still destroyed all of the other bands. I had found out when we arrived that one of those no-name bands was replaced by Watch Them Die who we had missed. I purchased their CD and it isn't bad at all. I also purchased a Goatwhore shirt and two Goatwhore pins. I met the vocalist of Goatwhore, he was fucking cool as hell. I had also met three members of The Black Dahlia Murder. I met and congradulated the drummer, vocalist and the bassist. I had my picture taken with Trevor as well. That picture will be posted on my site once developed. I shall retire for sleep soon.... I bid you a good night.

The Cannibal Corpse show [06 Mar 2004|01:44am]
[ mood | exhausted ]

I had just got home from the Cannibal Corpse show about ten minutes ago. It was fucking brutal. Vile was damn good.... it was the first time I had ever heard them and I was rather impressed. Their drummer is fast as hell and can do insane double bass rolls. Exhumed was brutal.... no surprise there, they've always been brutal. But they put on a good show nonetheless. Hypocrisy was decent, nothing fantastic but nothing terrible. Cannibal Corpse was just pure insanity. Some of the songs they played were "Staring Through the Eyes of the Dead", "Fucked with a Knife", "Devoured by Vermin", "A Skull Full of Maggots" as well as many others. The last song they played was "Hammer Smashed Face" and the crowd went crazy. My uncle Tom has a friend who had helped book the show and he got us tickets as well as backstage passes. While backstage, I talked to the drummer of Vile for a little while, he was cool. He liked my hair and asked how I got it to spike the way it does. I had my picture taken with the drummer of Vile, the bassist of Exhumed and George from Cannibal Corpse. I shall put those pictures on my website when I have them developed and scanned. I also took a shitload of pictures of the bands as they were playing. I ended up purchasing Vile's latest CD and it's rather good. I had a lot of respect for all of the bands already, but seeing them live tonight made me have even more respect for them. Tonight ended up making today a pretty good day.... I haven't had one of those in a while. While I was at the show, I had thought about Caley a lot. It wasn't about one specific subject either.... I just thought about.... her. But I am retiring for sleep now....
